Comprehensive airway-centric assessments for babies in their first weeks of life.
When?
All children encouraged to be seen as early as possible, ideally within the first weeks of life.
Why?
Philosophy of care for maximal optimization and prevention, to avoid or minimize treatment and correction at later age. We work collaboratively with pre/post natal health care providers.
What to Expect — Comprehensive Airway Centric Assessment
Education on essential keys to optimize growth, development and function
Pre-and post-natal history
Infant breathing assessment
Breastfeeding experience/challenges
Infant feeding (diet, chewing, swallowing)
Infant sleeping including sleep hygiene and current pediatric guidelines review
Infant habits and products that optimize growth and development
Clinical examination: extra-oral and intra-oral (including teeth if present)
Functional assessment of tongue and lip movements, rest posture, suckle and swallow
Overall evaluation and diagnosis
Comprehensive instruction in oral health prevention and hygiene
Determination if immediate tongue/lip tie release is required
If treatment recommended: Post-operative care instructions, products guidance, follow-up care
Referral to affiliated partners as needed: lactation consultants, osteopathy, etc.
